"Every day in Nuclear Medicine, we see the battle against cancer. We see the hope when a treatment works, and the heartbreak when options run out. That's why we are pushing the limits to run the Rotterdam Marathon—not just for a personal best, but for a medical breakthrough.
Cancer cells are marked by a unique 'sugar code' (proteoglycans) that distinguishes them from healthy cells. Our research aims to use this fingerprint as a precise target. And like a guiding missile, using radioactive tracers to image tumours and deliver treatment specifically to cancer cells. This is the promise of Nuclear Medicine: smarter, more precise cancer care.
We're running the NM Rotterdam Marathon, but the real race is against cancer. We are training through rain, wind, and fatigue. But this challenge is nothing compared to what cancer patients face. We're running to give them more hope, more time, and better care.
